The North East End Violence Against Women and Girls (NEEVAWG) Network is a project of the North East Women’s Network. We welcome everyone, individuals and organisations, working to end all forms of violence and abuse against women and girls in the North East of England*. Our aim is to amplify the policy voice of the specialist violence against women and girls sector in the North East. We do this by:
sharing information (via our e-bulletin and via this website) ;
holding networking events;
consulting with the sector.
We will also undertake specific pieces of policy work such as organising VAWG-focused hustings for the Police and Crime Commissioner elections.
* We understand violence and abuse against women and girls to include domestic abuse, sexual violence, stalking, sexual harassment, forced marriage, so-called honour-based violence, female genital mutilation, domestic slavery, sexual exploitation and child abuse. We recognise that, although men and boys can also be victims of these crimes and women can sometimes be the perpetrators, overwhelmingly these are gendered crimes and we therefore take a gendered approach to addressing them.
