Launch of FLOWS in London and Newcastle

Cris McCurley and Victoria Richardson of Ben Hoare Bell attended the launch event of FLOWS - Finding legal options for Women survivors on Friday. Flows provides support and legal assistance to women domestic abuse survivors. The organisation is delivered by the Family Team of RCJ advice in partnership with Rights of Woman.

The event took us through the journey of a woman who was suffering domestic abuse. Flows have created an online application which a woman can complete with the support of a front line worker. This application form cleverly merges the information into an FL401 and supporting statement, necessary for an non-molestation application. The application form will also undertake a legal aid check, and if a women is eligible for legal aid will contact local domestic abuse accredited solicitors to pick up the case.

In the event a woman is not eligible, the women will be referred back to Flows for further guidance. In the vent that the woman is eligible for legal aid, her case will go onto the FLOWS postal to be picked up by one of the partners firms of the Solicitors throughout the Jurisdiction.

We are doubly lucky in the North East as we have our own FLOWS solicitor, Vicci O’Neil, in postat the Law Centre.

Alongside this, Flows have developed an online forum for front line workers and legal professionals to connect and share their experiences and expertise on law and policy relating to family law.
