Government launches new strategy

To mark International Women's Day the Government has launched its End Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy 2016-2020. Highlights include a commitment to spend £80 million of central government funding (some details on page 31) and retain the Rape Support Fund.

It also states that "from April 2017 onwards, local service provision will be supported through a new VAWG Service Transformation Fund which aims to move from a model of direct national match-funding for individual posts to a model of supporting community-based services through funding local programmes which encourage new approaches incorporating early intervention; establish and embed the best ways to help victim and their families, and; prevent perpetrators from re-offending."
