The Girls Network looking for North East women mentors

The Girls' Network works with schools to match 14-19 year old girls with strong female professionals to act as a mentor to increase confidence, aspirations and self belief. Most girls are influenced by the people closest to them, if they do not see women in challenging and rewarding jobs in varied roles they are unable to have the self belief needed to aspire to these roles themselves. You can't be what you can't see!

The Girls' Network is well established and award winning in London, we started our school programme here in the North East in January and are on track to equal (probably exceed by miles as we know how amazing we are in the North!) this success.

Being a mentor is a relatively small commitment to work alongside a local school girl to increase aspirations, confidence, self belief and resilience. A mentor is matched with a girl (between ages of 14-19) they meet on 10 occasions over the course of 12 months,

Time commitment expected over 12 months:

  • 3-4 hour training session (Includes payment of £25 for a DBS check, quite often your workplace may cover this cost for you)
  • A mentor matching event at a school close to your home or workplace. Approx 2 hours.
  • 10 x 1 hour sessions with your mentee
  • Ambassador Celebration

To Apply to Mentor in the North East please complete this form at the link and take a look at the Girls Network website at https://www.thegirlsnetwork.org.uk   We will then be in touch with available training dates ready to match you in January 2019.
