WRC consultation on proposed reforms to the Gender Recognition Act 2004

The UK Government is currently consulting on proposed reforms to The Gender Recognition Act (GRA) 2004.

Women's Resource Centre (WRC) is therefore seeking the views of its members in order to respond to the Government’s consultation on reforming the process of changing an individual’s legal gender, via the GRA 2004.

We are particularly interested to gather your views on any impact the GRA may have on single and separate sex services for women and girls.

Domestic Violence and Abuse Bill examined – News from Parliament

Next week, the Home Affairs Committee will be taking oral evidence on domestic abuse, exploring what should be covered in the Government’s forthcoming Domestic Violence and Abuse Bill. ASA consultation on gender stereotypes

EVAW, Imkaan & Rape Crisis respond to the advertising regulator's request for views on harmful sexism in ads. The Advertising Standards Authority has been consulting on proposed new guidelines to tackle gender stereotypes in advertising. The ASA draft guidelines and a description of the consultation is here. Understanding the drivers of youth social action

The #iwill campaign have commissioned research to understand what young people coming from lower socio-economic groups understand by social action and what motivates them either to engage or not to engage.

They would like to hold two focus groups here in the North East, one with young people aged 13 to 15 who are currently engaging in youth social action and another with young people aged 13 to 15 who are not currently engaging in youth social action.

Each focus group will last approximately an hour and they are looking for 6 -10 young people to take part.

Funding for the UK Women's Sector - we need your help!

WRC have teamed up with the Women's Budget Group to research issues facing funding for the UK Women's Sector.

We are asking women's organisations (not-for-profit groups led by and for women) to fill in this survey about the financial sustainability and health of the women's sector across the UK. The data collected here will help us to produce a report on the state of funding for the sector, which will be come out later this year.

Draft guidance on Relationships and Sex Education released

The Government has released the draft guidance relating to Relationships and Sex Education, and are seeking views in response. Responses can be submitted via the online survey, and the consultation is open until 7th November 2018. Responding to the release of the guidance, the End Violence Against Women Coalition stated that despite endemic levels of sexual violence and harassment, Government plans still fall short of what children need and more is needed to prevent abuse.

LimeCulture ISVA services survey

As part of the development of the new ISVA Service Quality Standards, LimeCulture CIC is working with a number of organisations providing and commissioning ISVA services, as well as policy leads from the Home Office, Ministry of Justice and NHS England. They are seeking responses to a survey from people who have been supported by an ISVA:
- What was positive about your experience of ISVA services?
- What difficulties, if any, did you experience in finding out about ISVA services, accessing or receiving ISVA services?
