The Marmot Review - Ten Years On demonstrates the extent of health inequality in the UK, and how women lliving in disadvantaged areas are most affected. Female life expectancy declined in the most deprived 10 percent of neighbourhoods between 2010-12 and 2016-18 and there were only negligible increases in male life expectancy in these areas.
On 24th Feb Inside Out NE and Cumbria Documentary featured the safety and protection for migrant women without recourse to funds. The feature includes commentary from Rosie Lewis of the Angelou Centre and Chi Onwurah, Newcastle Central MP. The item is 10 mins into the programme which can be downloaded at:
"I am emailing on behalf of one of the women I support within a women and children’s supported accommodation. She is moving into her own home soon and wants to start working again in the near future, however for now, she has expressed an interest in volunteering – particularly with victims/survivors of domestic abuse/homelessness."
