CEDAW - Women and the Women's Sector

As part of the 16 days of Actvism Campaign, this Ascent special event will focus on the relationship between CEDAW and the Women's Sector.

The 2017 16 Days of Activism Campaign places a stronger emphasis than in recent years on the human rights framework. As such, this Ascent Special Event will include talks, panel discussions and workshops related to the relationship between CEDAW (the UN Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women) and the Women's Sector.

The event will

  • Increase participants knowledge about CEDAW and the way it can be used to achieve women's equality, eliminate discrimination, and tackle VAWG
  •  To support and enhance collaborative working on CEDAW and other VAWG-related issues
  •  To share knowledge and expertise across sectors and areas of expertise
  •  To share policy and/or legislative developments
